ESG Towards Sustainable Development
The course: 1 Credit.
Duration: July 19th – July 31st 2026 (02 weeks)
Venue: VNUHCM Campus, Linh Xuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
Program activity:
o Thematic Lecture Series (Lectures): Providing foundational knowledge on ESG, circular economy, greenhouse gas emissions management, carbon neutrality, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) toward sustainable development.
o Discussions and Group Projects (Mini-Project): Randomly dividing students into small cross-national groups to draw lots for topics, research, and build practical solutions for a specific theme (such as Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Tourism, Green Campus, Carbon Neutrality, etc.) under the close guidance of mentors.
o Field Trip Program (Field Trips): A multi-day field trip to study Sustainable Agriculture & Circular Economy Practices at Loc Troi Group (An Giang), combined with experiencing the unique mangrove ecosystem in Can Gio Commune.
o Extracurricular Activities: 2 session for student interactive session at VNUHCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNUHCM-University of Economics and Law, 1 Cultural exchange session among countries in the AUN network, and a Closing Gala Dinner.
This course provides foundational knowledge on sustainable development, ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance) management, circular economy, greenhouse gas management, and green innovation in the context of the global green transition.
Through an interdisciplinary approach combining lectures, workshops, field activities, business case studies, and international cultural exchange activities, students will explore sustainable development models in Vietnam as well as the role of youth in promoting innovation and social responsibility.
The course particularly emphasizes experiential learning, enabling students to strengthen international teamwork skills, intercultural communication, critical thinking, and the development of practical ESG solutions through a final mini project.
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of international student exchange programs, including their structure, policies, and global impact. It fosters intercultural communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through experiential learning. Students will explore sustainable mobility models, integrating green development and the circular economy. The course also examines emerging technologies like AI in enhancing academic collaboration. Additionally, it equips students with strategic insights to design effective exchange initiatives while promoting a systemic approach to connecting technology, policy, and community for sustainable global mobility.
Students will be able to:
Active participation in both classroom discussions and out-of-class activities is expected. There is no required textbook for this class. All reading materials will be provided by the lecturers.
Grades will be based on the following breakdown:

02 weeks in July 2026, from July 19, 2026, to July 31, 2026.
International Students: Expectedly around 50 students from international universities.
VNUHCM Students: Expectedly around 30 accompanying students from member universities, who will participate directly in the program while acting as liaisons, supporting logistics, and accompanying international students.
Lecturers and Experts: Lecturers with expertise in ESG, circular economy, and the environment, responsible for teaching specialized knowledge to the students.
Academic Mentors: Lecturers participating in guiding discussions, consulting, and orienting group projects for students.
Student Volunteers: VNUHCM student volunteer force responsible for airport pick-up/drop-off, daily life coordination, and running program events.
